KULA Candid: A Journey of Growth and Community
We're excited to kick off our new series, KULA Candid. This is where we'll be sharing our behind-the-scenes stories, our hopes, and our dreams. It's a way for us to connect with you on a deeper level, to share our journey, and to celebrate our shared love for nourishing food inspired by authentic Afro-Caribbean flavours.
The Origin of KULA
Have you ever wondered where the name "KULA" came from? Let’s call it serendipity. It's a story as unique as our flavours. Our founder, Asha, was contemplating names for weeks, searching for something that captured the essence of her vision: to bring people together through food.
So, what does it mean?
The Birth of KULA
Remember those early days at Riley Park Farmers Market in Vancouver? It was a launch filled with excitement and anticipation. We were serving up Sukuma Stew, chapati, and mandazi, and the community's response was incredible. It was the start of something special.
Navigating Challenges and Embracing Opportunities
2020 was a year of uncertainty, but it also presented opportunities. We pivoted the business to focus on meal delivery, bringing our delicious food directly to your doorsteps. However, as the world began to adapt to the new normal, we realized that our customers craved the convenience of retail. So, we pivoted once again, transitioning from meal deliveries to packaged goods.
A Major Milestone: Whole Foods
Last year, we hit a major milestone: launching our products in Whole Foods. It was a dream come true, and we couldn't have done it without your support.
The Future of KULA
As we look to the future, we're committed to innovation and sustainability. We're proud to partner with local suppliers and manufacturers to bring you the best possible products.
We're grateful for your continued support. Together, we're building a community around inclusive food, and we can't wait to see what the future holds.
Stay tuned for more KULA Candid stories!
With Love
